Sandy Dunlap has 27 years of experience assisting the elderly and chronically
ill, both from a medical and psychiatric perspective. Sandy received
her R.N. from Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in West
Palm Beach, Florida. She has her B.A. in Psychology from Florida
International University in Miami, Florida and a Masters Degree
in Social Work from Barry University in Miami, Florida. She is
a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Ms. Dunlap began her career at age 14 when she worked as a
nurse’s aide in a nursing home. This experience was very
rewarding and the determining factor which led to her interest
in attending nursing school and working with the aged. After
graduation, she worked in the medical/surgical area for several
years and eventually became a head nurse in
the area of geriatric and general psychiatry.
Along with her nursing experiences, Ms. Dunlap has also developed
and managed several programs, including care management programs
for Jewish Family Services, coordination of case management
for Douglas Gardens Community Mental Health and development
of partial hospitalization programs for seniors with depression
and other psychiatric illness.
Upon obtaining her degree in social work, Ms. Dunlap has integrated
both disciplines in order to provide the holistic care, which
she believes can service seniors and other populations in the
most effective way. Impairment or frailty usually affects all
aspects of a person’s life, including their social, financial,
and spiritual well being. This was most evident in Ms. Dunlap’s
experience in working for hospice. Prior to her joining Rona Bartelstone,
Ms. Dunlap also obtained experience in working with guardianship
clients and gained knowledge in the legal aspects of providing
care for seniors.
